We offer a comprehensive curriculum and our highly qualified teaching staff works to develop the abilities of each child. The District is constantly growing and striving to remain future-focused so that our students have the academic tools they need to succeed in the 21st Century and beyond.
According to the 2021 U.S. News & World Report Best High Schools Rankings, Highland High School continues its impressive climb in state and national rankings and is now ranked #10 out of 123 high schools in the Cleveland Metro area, #34 among Ohio’s 872 high schools and #881 out of 17,857 high schools nationally. In 2020, HHS was ranked #13, #36 and #1,013 respectively.
"These are incredible gains despite a year overshadowed by so much change and uncertainty for our students, staff and families," stated Highland Schools Superintendent Catherine Aukerman. "Yet collectively we rose to the challenge and persevered. This is not only a great accomplishment for Highland High School, but for the entire district and community. A strong school district equals a strong community, and we are proud to once again be recognized as one of the best."
U.S. News evaluated over 24,000 public high schools nationwide, with more than 18,000 schools ranked. The highest ranked public schools are those whose students demonstrated outstanding outcomes above expectations in math and reading state assessments, passed a diverse array of college-level exams and graduated in high proportions. How to Enroll in the HLSD
Parents, legal custodians/guardians need to enroll their child(ren) in school in the building(s) which the child(ren) will be attending. Please note: Only the residential or legal custodial parent/guardian may enroll the child in school. Enrollment is by appointment, and all steps must be completed before a student may attend the Highland Local Schools. At this time, the district does not accept Open Enrollment.
To begin the enrollment process, please see "Enrollment Steps." Here, you will find a Records Release Request Form, an Enrollment Process Checklist, Medical Action Plans (if applicable) and a link to FinalForms. Please follow this link to create or access your FinalForms account.
FinalForms is an on-line program which allows you and your student(s) to complete and file MOST forms electronically. All parents of Highland students are required to use this program. The custodial parent/guardian must have a valid email address. The #1 contact in FinalForms will be the number used for the district's parent notification system. It is then up to the parent to keep their child's information current, as the information will carry over each school year.
