Highland High School Again Earns U.S. News Best High Schools National Ranking, Recognized as #29 in State, #6 in Cleveland Metro Area

Highland High School has again earned high national and metro-area rankings among the 2023 Best High Schools, released by U.S. News on August 29, 2023.

Highland High School is now ranked #6 out of 120 high schools in the Cleveland Metro area, #29 among Ohio’s 741 high schools, and #764 out of 17,680 high schools nationally, with an overall score of 95.68/100. The school saw incredible improvements in the rankings over last year, jumping from #15 to #6 in the Cleveland Metro Area, #41 to #29 in the state, and #1,155 to #764 nationally.

“Highland continues to strive for excellence in education, and being recognized as one of the best high schools in the State of Ohio and at the national level is a true testament to the commitment and dedication of our outstanding staff members, students, and families. Our students continue to perform and excel at the highest levels, and I could not be prouder of their academic accomplishments and all that they achieve,” stated Highland Local Schools Superintendent Catherine Aukerman. “The ranking is based on math, reading, and science proficiency, college readiness, and graduation rates. We are pleased to be ranked amongst the best in the state and nation and celebrate this success.”

U.S. News evaluated over 24,000 public high schools nationwide, with nearly 18,000 schools ranked. The highest-ranked public schools are those whose students demonstrated outstanding outcomes above expectations in math, science and reading state assessments, passed a diverse array of college-level exams, and graduated in high proportions.
