Dear Highland Parents,
I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone who participated in the recent distance learning parent survey. We have just received the final summary report, ahead of schedule, so we wanted to release that information to you today (6/18/20).
You may download the Survey Report HERE.
We are in the process of reviewing these results, in addition to teacher feedback from focus groups and an online survey. We will use the results to improve the district’s distance learning programs should we need them, in any capacity, in the future.
I am aware that parents and students alike are eager to know the plan for the 2020-21 school year. We continue to wait on orders from the Ohio Department of Health regarding any/all restrictions that must be in place when students return. Without that information, we cannot move forward with any definitive plans for what education may look like in the fall. The state and local health department parameters are most important to us in our planning efforts. We are being told that information may be released within the next 10 days.
Our administrative team and staff are working on a series of options – from staff and students returning with strict health/safety protocols in place to blended learning (part in school, part at home) and an all remote learning option. Social distancing calculations (for both school buses and classrooms) remain a key factor in planning.
Please know that as soon as there is definitive information from the Ohio Department of Health, we will beginning planning with that information.
As always, thank you for your continued patience throughout this process.
